Alessandro Penso was born in Velletri in 1978. He studied Clinical psychology at "La Sapienza" University in Rome.
in 2007 he obtained a scolarship in photojournalism at the "Scuola Romana di Fotografia".
During his studies, he produced a photo reportage on the subject "Valle dell'Omo" in Ethiopia for wich he obtains the "PDN PhotoStudent".
In the last few years he has begging documenting works on the body and sexuality of the modern society and immigration these works are still in progress.
Thanks to a part of this work, he obtains several awards such as: the second award for the PX3 photoreportage cathegory "the other" and an honor mention;3 awards for the IPA, 1 for the "Lucca Digital Photo" and the nomination as "selected author" at the "Fotoleggendo 2008".
In 2009 he was finalist at the Photoespana and he was selected for the project "In Between" (the goal was to photograph Rome in 62 hours outside the ancient walls) by the "Rome photography Fotofestival" to realize a team project on Rome wich has been published as a book and has produced an exhibition.
Moreover, for the Festival of Rome he joined a team expo "12x10".
In 2009 thanks to "Drag Kings" project won "PDN Photo Annual 2010". In 2011 won Project Launch,Santa FE,
with "Migrat Workers Journey" which was exposed at New Mexico Museum of Art in Santa Fe.
He lives and works in Rome.

Alessandro Penso nasce a velletri nel 1978. Studia Psicologia Clinica presso l’Università degli studi di Roma “La Sapienza”
Nel 2007 ottiene una borsa di studio presso la “Scuola Romana di Fotografia” in fotogiornalismo.
Durante gli studi produce un reportage sulla “Valle dell’Omo” in Etiopia,grazie al quale ottiene il premio “PDN Photo Student.”
Negli ultimi anni segue lavori che si concentrano sullo studio fotografico (e non solo) del corpo e della sessualità nella società moderna ed il tema della immigrazione.
La ricerca fotografica su questi temi dura alcuni anni ed è tutt’ora in corso.
Grazie ad una parte di questo lavoro ottiene diversi riconoscimenti,secondo premio al "PX3" categoria reportage “the other”,e 1menzione speciale,13 menzioni all’ “I.P.A.”,1 menzione al "Lucca Digital Photo",Autore selezionato al "Fotoleggendo 2008".
Nel 2009 è finalista al Photoespana e viene selezionato per il progetto “In between” (fotografare roma in 62 ore fuori dalle mura) dal "Fotofestival internazionale di Roma" per realizzare un lavoro collettivo su Roma ,lavoro che produrrà una mostra ed un libro.Sempre all’interno del "Festival Di Fotografia Roma" partecipa alla esposizione collettiva "12x10".
Nel 2009 Grazia al Reportage "Drag King" vince il “PDN Photo Annual 2010".Nel 2011, con "Migrant Workers Journey"ottiene il primo premio,Project Launch,Santa FE.Il lavoro verrà esposto al New Museum of Art di Santa FE.
Attualmente vive e lavora a Roma.
